Chilly lentils and bread curry
Well those who had a bad cooking experience should stay away from it. But some guys breaks this golden rule and keeps repeating the same mistake. Once they are determined to cook nothing could stop them not even the reminder of their previous cooking experiences. It’s as if they are destined to commit the same mistake. Well sorry to say but me and some of my friends can be put in this category. We are so creative that once we start cooking ,our instincts take over, invariably producing terrific dishes which hardly resembles what we had in mind. Together we have produced some classic dishes like chilly beans (cant remember all the ingredients but definitely tasted chilly and beans that's why we named it so. Still cant forget the dish ,how can we? our stomach wont allow it, poor thing still suffering from its after effects) and"extra pepper, extra oiled and extra fried french fries with extra salt" are some of them. Our latest cooking venture was "chilly lentils and bread curry". Me and one of my friends were the creators of this mesmerizing dish.My friend who had already made lentils curry twice was the leader. He was really a genius when it came to cooking. he had answers to all my questions, like when i informed him about the absence of pressure cooker to boil lentils he calmly told me to boil it in any pan and use another pot filled with water to cover it so there remains some pressure and when i asked him about the extra amount of onion he cut he threw me a disgusting look and told me "you got to enjoy the work you do and sometimes when you enjoy it you will get carried away".At the very moment i made him my guru and that was my first cooking lesson. He taught me the importance of plan b and told me not to worry bcoz he always had one . He already knew what to do with extra onion,we will make omelets, he said. He was a good teacher, i wasn't a bad student either i learned things pretty quickly, that was why i never asked him why he was pouring the whole packet of chilly pwdr into the dish when just a couple of spoons were needed cause i knew he was enjoying his work and he had a plan b. He did have a plan b in fact he had plan c,d,e,f.. He threw extra water, extra salt, extra turmeric powder and many other things in order to neutralize the effect of chilly but what ever he did had the negative effect like the addition of water removed the last remaining flavor of lentils from the dish, addition of salt made the dish more bitter and the addition of turmeric powder resulted in generating a unique smell which could make anyone puke. But he never gave up and kept on tring new things with little success and the next thing i remember was plan y "adding bread into the dish". Bread will absorb all the additional flavors and when we remove bread from the dish it will be perfect. An undeniable logic but it so happened that the bread dissolved into the dish. The results were awesome the dish looked brilliant. You just had to look into it and you will scream Amitabh Bachan(hope you guys have seen the movie slum dog millionaire),it really looked like shit. Finally he taught me plan z (the only plan which i now think was sensible) throw the dish into the closet and never to talk about the dish again . That was the second time in my life i hated food i could vomit by the mere mention of food (first time i had the situation was when we made chilly beans). But as i said we never learn from our mistakes we are planning to make another dish. P.S Second blog in 2 days .im really bored and im writing continuous crap if sabith doesnt come back soon i may write a whole lot more crap in this crap blog.
